3 Inspiring Ideas From “Empowered Women, Empower Women” Event

3 Inspiring Ideas From “Empowered Women, Empower Women” Event

Norah Casey, Donna Kennedy & The Women of Faith for Peace

8 women with 8 empowering stories. Some of these stories are deeply intertwined with each other, some started as solo journeys. In both cases, they have a tremendous impact on other peoples lives. Empowered Women, Empower Women was an evening that fed the mind and the soul, with thanks to our expert MC, Norah Casey, you could actually feel and see that even the impossible can turn into possible with the right attitude, a lot of braveness, and faith.  Here at Saint John of God Development Company, we have taken home a lot of positive energy and 3 brilliant ideas:

Deputy Lord Mayor Rebecca Moynihan speaking to the Women of Faith for Peace

  1. When women support each other incredible things happened. Jerusalem is a place of conflict, where fear against others rule. Lia G. Beltrami and Hedva Goldschmidt had a big dream: build a group of women leaders in their religions to start a dialogue. Women of Faith for Peace was born, an international group that gathers women from different religious and cultural backgrounds (Islamic, Jewish, Christian, Druze, Bedouin etc.) to work together to find new ways to build those much needed bridges to communicate diversity and to build peace in place of conflicts.
  2. Believe in your dream and work hard to make it a reality. Donna Kennedy is a psychologist, bestselling author and founder of the Women’s Empowerment Summit . When you meet Donna you immediately feel her positivity and her strength, and you could never imagine what she has been through in the past. At one point her confidence was so low that she was afraid to walk across the street on her own. Donna showed us that even when all is going wrong, you should never give up. She has taught us that even in the darkest moment of your life, you can always find something to be grateful for, and you need to keep the good things in mind and keep going until you find the light. The important thing in life is not what happens to you, but how you manage it.

  1. Every single woman can play her part to make change possible. There isn’t a standard formula, but paying attention to the others and trying your best every single day can have a positive impact not only on you, but also on other peoples lives. Even small things, like attending “Empowered Women, Empower Women” can make a difference. By joining us you have helped to develop our Women’s Empowerment Programme in Malawi. Here at Saint John of God Development Company we would like to thank all of those who have attended the event: your support was essential to help marginalised women in Malawi to learn new skills to find their own way to become financially independent thorough our Self Help Group programme.

A big thank you goes to Norah Casey for taking the time to be our MC for the evening and to our speakers Deputy Lord Mayor Rebecca Moynihan, the Women of Faith for Peace for travelling from all over the world to speak to us about their important experiences and to Donna Kennedy for sharing with us her personal and powerful journey. The event has left us so inspired that we are working on a new project on Women’s Empowerment and we can’t wait to share the details with you …stay tuned to find out more!
